Goals
- Identify points of friction about contributing to Diamond DAO
Discussion Items
- Angela
- DAOhaus process for being paid out is slow, bureaucratic. Ends up taking 1-2 weeks to go through process to actually claim payment.
- Treasury wasn’t fully funded. Minion safe had enough, whole time was wasted.
- Checks out governance channel in Discord to see what’s going on “funding proposals are equivalent to what people are working on”.
- Could provide an update on fund distributions every month or so
- Not too big a pain point to get paid in WXDAI, but might be for smaller bounties.
- Maybe custom templates for proposals
- Community Calls recently seem like another product/engineering sync - is that what we want?
- Andy Gao
- For bounties the DAOhaus voting process is good. For residencies that have been approved the payments should be more efficient.
- Not too big a pain point to get paid in WXDAI
- Residency
- Officially lapsed in February. Kept working because it was unclear
- Should have more of a defined offboarding / ending - call about how it went, what to do next, etc.
- Fernando
- Not too big a pain to get paid in WXDAI and bridge the funds to xDAI
- Daohaus thoughts
- Prefers to look at forum proposals via DIscourse instead of on the platform
- Fernando not a resident right now, exploring potentially becoming a resident
- Unclear exactly what is included in a residency proposal. Documentation to be more specific about residency expectation, details, etc.
- Scope of residency
- Would be nice to have more opportunities to connect with other DAO members that aren’t always deliverable or work focused
- Jordan
- Would be nice to have a system for longer term engagements where scope of work is proposed and voted on once, then payments are accessible on some schedule.
- What benefits should be offered the longer you participate?
- Andy
- Angela
- Pondering web3 ecosystem perqs
- What kind of status within web3 are helpful to contributors?
- Angela - endorsements, proof of work, package work for them to use; some way to give feedback or share what was done
- Diamond DAO irl
- Offsite retreat
- What would motivate you to attend?
- Fernando - cover costs of trip; planned ahead;
- Angela - ~1 week max; cover costs of trip; structure work and play; set an intention for the week
- Andy - agree with Fernando, Angela
- NYC workspace
- How frequently would NYC based contributors go to an office space?
- Angela - 3-4 days per week
- Andy - would use sporadically, once every week or two
- Jordan - 4-6 days per week
- Comparing comp strategies
- Option 1: reaching new levels within the DAO to receive more comp
- Option 2: using Coordinape to distribute a fixed pool of funds that get released when a project is finished
- People kinda like Option 1, but preferences were not strong. Both sounded good to the team, acknowledgement that Option 2 probably easier to implement
- Anything about W-2 employment that you would prefer?
- Angela - prefer the freelance setup; opted against Opolis
- Fernando - motivated by comp more
- Andy - prefer the freelancer agreement
- To what extent are you motivated by DMND token claim?
- Angela - supports partial payment in DMND
- Andy - mostly motivated by interesting work at the moment as he explores
- Fernando - motivated by token distribution
